For a very long time, I thought casteism and patriarchy were mutually exclusive. But when reading about these two at a deeper level, I realized that they are actually highly interrelated, having the same origin, beliefs and even a probable common solution

To all the 90’s kids

I remember being in school when the year 2000 was born. The year 2k was welcomed with so much excitement. Now, we are already in 2020. Wow, time flies so fast. The year 2020 is welcoming us with a wave of dramatic events like CAA protests, Delhi riots, Shaheen Bagh protests, decline in economy, Coronavirus and most importantly the practice of social distancing and self-quarantining. Since most of us are now locked down in our houses, me and my roommate are having a lot of chai time discussions, one of which was a very interesting observation that: “In India, women have more options than men when choosing a life partner due to our skewed gender ratio of 933, which is actually worse than China.”

Money isn’t everything, but it is a lot of things!

One of the biggest taboo topics in India is money. Whenever the topic of money comes up, people get uncomfortable and change the topic saying: “Money isn’t everything”.

I have always been a proud advocate for women’s equality which essentially means that I have gotten into a LOOOOOTTTT of debates and discussions with relatives and others who know me really well. One question I often get asked is this: “In the name of equality, women just want to struggle like men. Why don’t you be relaxed and enjoy the life you have?”

My trip to India this time was completely different than my previous trips, simply because, I faced a lot of conflicts within myself.
